A little planning ahead makes the trip go smoothly. Here's what we tell every couple.
Before you book
- Start earlySix to twelve months ahead gives you the best choice of rooms, especially overwater villas and peak dates.
- Passports & namesBook travel in the name on your current passport. Change your name after the trip, not before.
- Entry rulesCheck passport validity and entry requirements for your destination. Many countries want six months left on your passport.
- Travel insuranceWorth considering for any big trip, so a delayed flight or illness doesn't cost you the honeymoon.
Little extras
- Tell them it's your honeymoonMany resorts offer welcome gifts or other touches for honeymooners. Some ask for proof, like a marriage certificate.
- Private dinnersA table on the beach or a candlelit dinner on your deck can be arranged ahead of time.
- Couples spaSide-by-side treatments book up at popular resorts, so we can reserve them in advance.
